On reaching the cliffs, this path crosses three impressive ravines in the direction of the idyllic village of San Andrés. All along the way you will enjoy extraordinary views, with the peak of Mount Teide (Tenerife) on the horizon as you cross numerous tropical fruit farms. San Andrés is a picturesque enclave with a few places to overlap at the end of the route. But nearby are the Charco Azul Natural Pools, an ideal place to cool off with a refreshing swim in summer. The walk follows along the PR LP 7 path that crosses one of the most impressive ravines in the north: the Barranco de La Herradura ravine. This is an environment with abundant endemic flora and is home to countless giant ferns and hundred-year-old laurel trees. Finally, after rounding the Laguna de Barlovento, the path heads towards the village of Barlovento. Every hour there is a regular bus that connects Barlovento with Los Sauces in just 15 minutes. From there, the trail continues towards Gallegos, an idyllic rural enclave perched on a slope 300 metres above the sea. This is a great place to enjoy an excellent lunch in the Marleney bar, before continuing on to Franceses. It is now time to cross two of the most spectacular ravines in the north: the ravine of Franceses and the ravine of Los Hombres. Leaving the village of Franceses behind, a winding path zigzags along its edges until it climbs up to the ridge that shelters one of the most beautiful corners of La Palma: El Tablado.11,9 km | +886 m / -1022 m
Accommodation + breakfast: Casa Rural Las Gemelas - El Tablado
Day 5

When you reach an altitude of 1,000 metres above sea level, the scenery will be completely different. Huge Canary Island pine trees form a majestic landscape interspersed with extraordinary views of Roque de Los Muchachos. From Roque Faro the route heads towards La Zarza and La Zarcita, an enclave where we find aboriginal rock engravings and an interesting Information Centre on pre-Hispanic culture. The path now descends towards Don Pedro to cross again the ravine that stops at the village of El Tablado. After a short transfer to La Zarza (1000 metres above sea level) the trail first runs through a mystical laurel forest in the direction of Don Pedro where the GR 130 resumes. From there you start to enter the northwest of La Palma through the Punta del Mudo and across abandoned villages. This is an area where the trade winds are frequent and where goat enclosures abound. But spectacular dragon trees also dot the landscape before crossing the Barranco de La Luz ravine and arriving in Santo Domingo de Garafía. After the hike, a local taxi takes you back to your accommodation in Franceses.13,1 km | +346 m / -959 m

After crossing the ravine where the Buracas Caves are located, the path goes up the opposite side back to Las Tricias. This place is a real haven of peace, with idyllic vegetation, inhabited by numerous Northern European families in a light and romantic atmosphere. The walk climbs along the edge of the impressive Izcagua ravine until reaching the old mill, now converted into an ethnographic museum. When you reach Las Tricias again, all you have to do is follow along the GR 130 across the ravine to return to Puntagorda, where another overnight stay will bring this itinerary around the north of La Palma to an end.9,7 km | +501 m / - 541 m

The El Galeón hotel is a suitable accommodation to enjoy the first two nights in Santa Cruz de La Palma.
HOSTAL BUBANGO
Right in the centre of Los Sauces, next to its lively square, we find this beautiful hostel, run by two young Europeans. Hostal Bubango is located in a carefully reconstructed old manor house. It offers 5 well-kept rooms and allows you to enjoy the lively social life of Los Sauces, its cafés, bars and terraces. On the roof terrace there is the possibility of having breakfast while watching the hustle and bustle of the peasants going about their daily chores. An ideal place to stay before embarking on the following routes in the far north of La Palma.
The rooms reflect a syncretism of styles, with bright colours and warm decorations, typical of Northern Europe. The woodwork corresponds to the traditional Canarian style, combining harmoniously with the modern form of its decoration.
CASA RURAL LAS GEMELAS
As the name suggests, Las Gemelas are two small holiday homes in an extraordinary setting. From their windows and balconies you can enjoy an indescribable view of both ravines, at an altitude of 350 metres above the sea. Las Gemelas is a well-kept and well-managed accommodation in a paradisiacal setting.
Breakfast will be offered in the old "venta de Rosa", today run by Claire, a Dutch woman who decided to settle in the remote north of La Palma. El Tablado is a small paradise away from all the hustle and bustle. A haven of peace situated on a promontory between two spectacular ravines.
CASA RURAL LA CHARQUITA
There is the Casa Rural La Charquita, a pretty house, centrally located in the village, has a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and is equipped with many details and a lush garden. Breakfast is offered in the nearby café. The right accommodation for the last two days on La Palma.
